Dallas Real Estate- Dallas Schools Unacceptable

This is ridiculous!! Last year, there were 264 schools that were ranked as unacceptable and this year, that number jumped up to 321! How does this happen? What's funny (not really) is all the schools that cheated on their TAKS Tests (standardized tests) didn't help much as most of those are still unacceptable.

Granted, we had a huge jump in enrollment due to Hurricane Katrina and those students were probably on different levels which made it hard for many of them to catch up.

On the good side is that the number of exemplary schools were on the rise too... but just like the local news broadcast, it's easier to look at the negative than the positive. The increase of exemplary schools went from 304 up to 555 which was a 7% increase. WAY TO GO!!

Katrina washed most of the public schools away. They had 1200 people working at the central office and now only 39. The teacher quality was nothing to write home about. Most of the students, 98% were black. White educaturs were shunned. The state took them over last year, many went to charter schools this year. The magnet schools were good and very good. There was no middle class left. The admin. was corrupt, teachers were very poorly trained. What do you expect. It was 100% democrats with no outside help wanted, just the money to waste.$9000 per kid and not one could score an 18 on the act for a free college education. A broken system that could not be fixed. Its gone now!

Umm, I'm not sure how your comment relates to my post about the Texas schools as there weren't enough Katrina students added to skew the numbers we're seeing. Plus, that doesn't account for the number of schools who are now rated exemplary, which was an added 7%.
